Welcome to the Pearce Lab!
Neurodegenerative diseases have become a major global health concern as our population ages at an unprecedented rate. This problem is compounded by the fact that there are currently no available treatments that effectively target the underlying causes of these disorders, including Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, frontotemporal dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and Huntington's disease. Our lab is interested in deciphering the molecular pathways responsible for how neurodegenerative diseases progress through the brain and cause toxicity. Our hope is that by expanding our understanding of these pathogenic mechanisms, better therapies can be developed to slow or stop these fatal diseases.
We are a team of bright and enthusiastic scientists at various levels in our careers (undergrads through PhDs!) who enjoy research and training the next generation of scientists. Please contact Dr. Maggie Pearce if you are interested in learning more about us!
